let your child be bored to death. the police won’t arrest you.

Buddy is only in school for 2 days and every “odd” Friday. So on one of the days he stays home, I try to plan some activities in between making breakfast, hopping on my computer,  hopping on my sewing machine, making snacks, back on the computer, maybe some laundry, groceries, computer, lunch, ok the list can go on until 11pm. The bottom line is that I feel guilty for not planning “enough” for him to do. At only 4.5, he is able to type in “cars2″ on YouTube and see Lightening McQueen or go play some games...

murderer? nope. just a sweet old lady who needed a ride.

Before I start with this post, I must tell you that I’m a very paranoid person. My friends make fun of me all the time. This will help explain my thought processes as you read. The other day, I took Buddy with me to meet my mom for lunch. I was completely distracted thinking of all the things that I needed to get done. Knowing this as a constant personality trait, my mom ignored me and ate her lunch at what seemed like 3km an hour while I sat there a bit impatient. I can sense her eyes on me and she finally said “Fine, go,...

I had a “Saturday” job at a local children’s boutique to get out of the house, but even then it started to get in the way with soccer games, and the kids events, and then Saturdays turned into 4 days a week. It became too much. I thought, I want to...

D.I.Y. stools for your kiddos!

First and foremost, I give 100% credit for this design to my dear friend Lesley who is the owner of Squidpress. She is an awesome crafter, a great mom of 2, (aka Tweedlemom on my earlier blog posts) and a source of great ideas and inspiration. One day, we decided to get together to create these D.I.Y Stools for our little rascals. Our other dear friend who is single and fab with no children joined us and asked, “Hey, I’ve noticed you guys got craftier after you had kids. Do kids bring out the crafty side in you?”. I laughed...

the whatever purse

Stuff it, Grab it and GO! When I get something in my head it doesn’t go away, which is usually very bad because it just creates more work for me. I have always had the idea to do really simple bags, nothing fussy, just something really simple you quickly grab if you are going to grandmas, the mall or whatever. So with that, I came up with “The Whatever Purse”. It’s perfect if you need to throw in an extra change of clothes for the baby or toddler, a few diapers and a wipe case. Or you can scratch all that and throw in...
