red lobster biscuits anyone?

Posted by on Dec 30, 2011 in momhood, recipes | 0 comments

I found this recipe somewhere online. It’s really simple with only 5 ingrediants, and you can literally eat this within 15 minutes of thinking about making them. ♥ 2 cups of Bisquix. I usually sift this into the mixer. ♥ 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheese ♥ 2/3 cups of milk Put in a 425 Degree Oven for 8-10 minutes until a touch of golden brown at the top. Makes about 25-ish. Drizzle Garlic Topping ♥ 2 tbsp of butter ♥ pinch of garlic salt Microwave until melted (about 25 seconds). Mix and Stir. Take the biscuits out of the oven....

crispy baked fan potatoes

One of my all time favourite cooking shows (America’s Test Kitchen / Cooks Country), (the one with the witty guy with the glasses and the bow tie) had made these Fan Potatoes. I thought I would give it try this afternoon. I rebelled a little, going against their recommendations of using homemade breadcrumbs and cheddar cheese. The general consensus from hubby was that it was good, however needed some sour cream “or something”. Well anyways, here is the video of this...

making some angry birds in 15 minutes

Buddy is absolutely OBSESSED with Angry Birds. I take no credit for this craft project. It was all my mom, whom one day felt the urge to rummage through her pom poms and come up with this. Pretty simple. All you need are: little pom pom things some foam stuff hole puncher glue or hot gun patience when being asked “Is it finished yet?” As for the finished product, we couldn’t find anything to make the slingshot yet, but he came up with this last creation all by himself with those blocks and a hotwheels contraption. Needless...

** UPDATED NOV 21, 2011 ** Winner of the Sweet Days in November Contest is: Amy T ! Her nomination: “If anyone deserves a sweet treat- it would be my Mom. I wont go into all the details of the hardships she has faced, but I will say she became a single mom when I was 18 and my brother was 12. She worked 2 jobs to support us, she did everything she could to give my brother and I every opportunity in life. Now that we are grown, she continues to give to us- I guess that’s what Moms do… but truthfully, I don’t know what I would do...

life as a graphic designer

life as a graphic designer

Having worked in the Photo/Video industry for about 4 years and editing about 120 weddings (at Xero Digital Inc. – AWESOME COMPANY!), I learned a few tricks along the way. In the summer of 2009, I decided to do a little project with my hubby and son (who was only 2 then). I took some facts of life, my little video camera and came up with this. Fun Facts: My little guy didn’t speak at all. He merely repeated everything I told him. The angles were shot at 2 different times. Meaning my hubby was talking to himself. I had to bribe the...

graphic design before email and the web

Way Back When I’m not thaaaaat old…. but I was recently reminiscing about how far graphic design has come in the last 15+ years. Back in 1994, I applied for the opportunity as a co-op student to work at large bank in their graphics department (cough cough redlogowithawhiteS). For a whole year, I was shown the in’s and out’s of graphic design, “mechanical paste-up” and introduced to the world of designing on a computer. Back then, Corel 3.0 was the program of the “leading edge” graphic design companies. I have never even heard...

let your child be bored to death. the police won’t arrest you.

Buddy is only in school for 2 days and every “odd” Friday. So on one of the days he stays home, I try to plan some activities in between making breakfast, hopping on my computer,  hopping on my sewing machine, making snacks, back on the computer, maybe some laundry, groceries, computer, lunch, ok the list can go on until 11pm. The bottom line is that I feel guilty for not planning “enough” for him to do. At only 4.5, he is able to type in “cars2″ on YouTube and see Lightening McQueen or go play some games...
