What made you decide to start your blog?
My second child was just a baby and I wanted to get online. I wanted to write, share and talk to other parents.
What does your blog specialize in?
I have three blogs! One (www.bitofmomsense.com) is about parenting, motherhood and children. www.bitoffoodsense.com is recipes and www.senseandcommunity.com is about social media engagement, business and community giving.
What were the challenges you faced while trying to get your blog up and running?
I am not very tech smart. I can do the basics, but some stuff is beyond me (or my patience). Even after 2.5 years, the tech aspect is the most frustrating.
How do you market your blog?
Twitter (@bitofmomsense), Facebook (www.facebook.com/bitofmomsense) and chatting with other bloggers are the main ways I market it. I guest post when I can and have appeared in major media mentions as well, which has been great.
How do you keep sane running your blog with children hanging off your legs?
I write when I can, and that is why sometimes my blog has a gap between posts! Most of my writing I sneak in while they are playing quietly, during school and mostly during naps and bedtime. What’s most difficult are days when I have content in my head but I just don’t have a chance to get it written out. But that balance is the reality of a parenting blogger and I’m perfectly okay with that.
